As mãos do Oviraptor tinham três dedos com garras curvadas e os pés possuiam quatro dedos, sendo que o dedão era minúsculo. Interessante nesse animal eram os dois dentículos pontudos no céu da boca, com os quais provavelmente abria e comia os ovos que roubava.

Aliás, foi durante um desses roubos, que uma terrível tempestade de areia o soterrou, onde permaneceu até 1924, quando se descobriu seu fóssil na atual Mongólia.

Apesar de sua alimentação predileta ser os ovos de outros dinossauros, eles também eram pais cuidadosos, como comprova um fóssil muito bem preservado de um Oviraptor chocando ovos.
