O que é o Transporte Ativo?

As células, tanto as eucarióticas, quanto as procarióticas, contam com membranas plasmáticas. As membranas são importantes estruturas que apresentam diversas funções, sendo uma delas, a permeabilidade seletiva. Por permeabilidade seletiva se compreende um processo fisiológico que consiste na passagem, de forma seletiva, de substâncias para o meio intra e extracelular (dentro e fora da célula). A estrutura responsável por isto é a membrana plasmática que pode contar com dois tipos de transporte: o passivo, que não envolve gasto energético; e o ativo, que envolve o gasto energético.

Neste texto serão abordados alguns aspectos do Transporte Ativo. Por transporte ativo se compreende o nome dado ao tráfego de moléculas através da membrana plasmática. Este tráfego se dá contra o gradiente de concentração e ocorre por meio de proteínas específicas transportadoras. Para tanto, elas utilizam energia celular, a qual advêm da hidrólise de ATP (adenosina trifosfato).

Para facilitar o entendimento, pense que existe, na membrana plasmática, uma proteína que serve como uma bomba, capaz de fazer o bombeamento de substâncias de um lado para o outro. Para que esta bomba possa funcionar, ela necessita de energia, pois é um processo em que a bomba tem que “trabalhar”, de forma a enviar as substâncias para outro local (dentro e fora da célula).

No processo celular de transporte ativo, a proteína que atua como transportadora está localizada na membrana plasmática. Para que esta proteína faça seu papel, ela necessita ser ativada. Então, ocorre a ligação do ATP (adenosina trifosfato) a esta proteína, fazendo com que ela mude sua conformação e, assim, consiga ter afinidade com o soluto a ser transportado.

Um exemplo de transporte ativo é a Bomba de Sódio e Potássio. Neste processo, a molécula transportadora é uma enzima capaz de quebrar o ATP. O gasto desta energia faz com que seja possível transportar as moléculas contra o seu gradiente de concentração. Este tipo de transporte é sempre em mão dupla: quando entra uma molécula, sai outra.

Transporte Ativo

No caso da Bomba de Sódio e Potássio, é importante entender que a concentração do sódio é maior no meio extracelular. Já a de potássio é maior no meio intracelular. Assim, as proteínas transportadoras que estão na membrana plasmática capturam íons sódio (Na+) no citoplasma e, utilizando energia, bombeia-os para o meio extracelular.

Por sua vez, no meio extracelular, estas proteínas capturam os íons potássio (K+) e os bombeiam para o meio intracelular. Isso faz com que se estabeleça a diferença de carga elétrica entre os dois lados da membrana, o que é vital para a manutenção das atividades celulares.
